Upper Class:
- Senatorial class. These people's class was based on political placements. The people in this class were senators and their families.
- Equestrian class. These people were rich, and could beformally enrolled inthe equestrian class based on minimum income.
Lower class:
- Commons. Common people were all freeborn Romans who were not in the upper classes.
- Latins. These were freeborn residents of Italy and other Roman municipalities.
- Foreigners. All other freeborn people in Roman territory.
- Freedpeople. These are men and women who had been slaves but bought their freedom.
- Slaves. These were people that were owned by another person.
- Women. Since only the upper classes were controlled by men, women were regarded as equal to men in the lower classes.
